This qualification covers the skills and knowledge required to service, diagnose and repair electrical systems and components in vehicles in the automotive electrical service and repair industry.

  • Blended delivery: Face to face training, Virtual Classroom ( Zoom) and Practical Placement.
  • Delivery will be face-to-face combined with industry assessments. Sessions will consist of workplace visits, demonstration discussions and written assessments. Students will be implementing skills acquired on the course and be assessed in a holistic manner in the workplace. Theory sessions and practical observations are structured to meet this course essential outcomes of competency and employability skills.

  • Apprenticeship: 48 Months as part of an Australian-approved apprenticeship program.
  • Domestic: 57 weeks  (may vary depending on the cohort and industry requirements)
  • International: 70 weeks (All the courses for International students are run over 2.5 days for a minimum of 20 hours per week)

RTO requirements

Training and assessments are conducted in English. Applicants must possess sound written and oral English skills. You will be required to complete a Pre-training and Language Literacy and Numeracy Assessment.

Training Package

There are no pre-requisite or any other training package entry requirements to enrol in this course.

Credit may be granted towards this qualification by those who have completed AUR20412 Certificate II in Automotive Electrical Technology in this Training Package or other relevant qualifications.

Pathways from the qualification

Further training pathways from this qualification include AUR40612 Certificate IV in Automotive Electrical Technology or other relevant qualifications.

Employment or occupational pathway

The Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology prepares new employees or recognises and develops existing workers who service, diagnose and repair vehicle electrical and electronic systems and components.

Each unit will be assessed by a minimum of three (3) types of assessment:

  • Written theory questions
  • Oral theory questions
  • Practical task activities
  • Observation
  • Third party report

(Note: Written, Practical and observation assessments must be carried out).

You can apply for recognition of prior learning, academic credit and work experience towards this qualification. During the course of your life you will develop a wide range of skills and knowledge. Through work, volunteer roles, family commitments and various tasks undertaken in everyday life, you are building up a bank of knowledge.
