Enrolment Process
STEP 1) An ETEA staff member will conduct a pre training interview with all prospective students. This discussion covers:

  • What it the most suitable qualification to meet the student’s needs.
  • Provide information and assistance to gain a USI
  • Determine if the student is eligible for funding under Smart and Skilled
  • Fees and charges
  • The RPL and Credit Transfer process
  • Consumer protection information
  • Withdrawal/Deferral process and procedure
  • How to access and contact support services
  • Key personnel at ETEA
  • Any obligations or and terms and agreements of funding contracts (if applicable)
  • course delivery, assessment and structure
  • location of the course
STEP 2) The student is to then complete an enrolment form and declaration, LLN and provide proof of identification, this must include photo ID, current residential address, signature and date of birth. For e.g. Green Medicare and driver’s license. If eligible for Smart and Skilled funding the student must also complete the Consent to use and disclosure of personal information the department of education and communities and other government agencies” form.
STEP 3) The ETEA representative conducting the enrolment will use the Provider Calculator to validate the student’s eligibility for Smart and Skilled if it has been deemed that they may be eligible.
STEP 4) For students with Smart and Skilled eligibility the ETEA representative will then generate the Notification of Enrolment and generate the student Commitment ID. A copy of this process is kept in the student file.


All students due to complete their qualification in 2015 are now required by the Federal Government to register for a Unique Student Identifier (USI).
The USI is an initiative of the Australian Government Department of Industry, which allows an individual access to their training results from all providers including all completed training units and qualifications.
The USI will make it easier for students to find and collate their VET achievements into a single authenticated transcript. It will also ensure that students' VET records are not lost.
The USI will be is available online and at no cost to the student and will stay with the student for life. Visit our USI Page for more information.
