HLT64115 Advanced Diploma of Nursing (Mental Health)
This qualification reflects the role of enrolled nurses with advanced skills who work in a specialised area of nursing practice. At this level, enrolled nurses integrate and adapt specialised, technical and theoretical knowledge to address a diverse range of clinical situations and challenges in their area of specialisation.
They contribute to the continuous improvement of clinical practice using research and participation in broader organisational quality processes. Enrolled nurses retain responsibility for their own actions while remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse/ Midwife for all delegated functions.
Note that the scope of practice for this job role is determined by state and territory legislative requirements and the policies and procedures of the employing organisation. Users of this qualification must refer to those instruments in the development of training and assessment strategies.

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who are currently working in Australia as an enrolled nurse and hold current registration as an enrolled nurse without notation with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au
RTO requirements
Domestic students
Training and assessments are conducted in English. Applicants must possess sound written and spoken English skills. You will be required to complete a Language Literacy, Numeracy test paper as part of an enrolment interview.
- Applicants are required to attend a Pre- Training Interview as part of the enrolment process

- Obtain a valid Police Check (required for practical placement purposes) and Working with Children Check if required
Some assessment tasks are completed using a computer and internet, and it is recommended that students have these available before or at enrolment.
For Domestic students, it is recommended this programme be scheduled to be delivered over 28 weeks in total.
For International students the duration is 36 weeks.
I.e. 8 hours/day @ 2 days a week for 26 weeks followed by 2 week (80 hours) Clinical placement

ETEA uses a range of assessment methods which may include:
- Written assessment (open book)
- Projects
- Case study
- Observation
Assessment will be either a Recognition of Prior Learning pathway or a Training and Assessment pathway.
For a Training and Assessment pathway, participants are advised of the assessment requirements at the start of each training session.
Students not achieving competency in any of the assessments will be required to undertake another assessment under the terms and conditions of ETEA’s reassessment policy.
Work based training
The Work based training component is one of the methodologies of assessments.
The nature of this occupation within the industry makes it important to embed Work based component as a part of assessment. As at a practical work level the occupation clusters all skills, it is important that all units are assessed.
