Renter's Insurance

Renters insurance is an option for anyone who rents a house or an apartment and needs insurance to cover the contents of their home. As a renter you will not need to insure the actual rental property building that you are living in - the owner of the property does this. However it is advisable to insure your personal effects in case there is a problem.

Your insurance will typically cover the following:

  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Fire
  • Liability against you if an accident occurs in a home that you are renting

It only covers certain personal effects in the home.  You will have to take out extra cover for some of the major items for example a car, motorcycle, or large electrical goods etc.

Some Rental Insurance policies also allow for separate policies per household, so if you’re sharing with someone, there’s no need to rely on your housemates to organize your insurance.

Renters Insurance can be as low as $10 - $15 per week.

For further information and quotes you can look for insurance companies in the Yellow Pages and remember to ask for Renters Insurance.

Homestay

Homestay provides students with the opportunity to live with an Australian family, in a safe and affordable environment. As temporary members of the host family, students are introduced to Australian food and culture which also helps to develop their English language skills further. They can also receive help with access to local banking and transport facilities.

Many international students find that the best accommodation on arrival in Australia is a 4 week stay with a Homestay provider. During this period students can look for more permanent rental accommodation. Some students choose to use Homestay on a long term basis however there is no obligation for a student to stay on past the 4 weeks.

Food, breakfast and dinner are provided 7 days a week and lunch only on Saturday and Sunday. Homestay is a great way to get to know about daily Australian life.

Homestay South Australia is an Adelaide based company committed to offering the highest quality homestay placement service to international students choosing Adelaide as their place of study.

For further information, enquiries and bookings, visit the Australian Homestay Network website.

There are also other websites that you can go into to seek homestay providers. (Please note that ETEA  does not promote or accept any responsibility for these websites):
