The Victorian Skills First Program

Now is the ideal time to make a start on gaining new skills, or upgrading your existing skills, to help you get the job you want.

The Victorian Skills First Program is making vocational education and training more accessible to people who do not hold a post-school qualification, or who want to gain a higher level qualification than they already hold.

There are now a number of government subsidised training places available to people who meet the eligibility criteria.

Am I eligible for a government subsidised training place?

ETEA is an approved provider under the Victorian Skills First Program. This training is delivered with Victorian and Commonwealth Government funding and is available for eligible Victorian students. To be eligible, an individual must meet the Victorian Skills First Program requirements as follows:

The individual must be either:
* an Australian citizen; or
* a holder of a permanent visa; or
* a New Zealand citizen; and
* under 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training; or
* over 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement oftraining) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training as an Apprentice (not Trainee); or * over 20 years of age (as at 1 January in the year of commencement of training) and seeking to enrol in nationally recognised training in a course that is at a higher qualification level than the highest qualification held at the time of the scheduled commencement of training.

Before making a decision to enrol in any Certificate III dual program, students are advised that this will exhaust your funding at Certificate III level and you will not be eligible for any more funding at this level. This applies even if you do not complete one or both of the qualifications.
