How do I apply for this course?
You are required to fill in an enrolment form, post it back to us at our PO Box address on the enrolment form. A $200 deposit fee is also needed to secure a spot for this course, it can be sent with the enrolment form as a cheque or money order.
How long does the course last?
Depending on the course you have selected the duration until you will receive your certificate is usually five to six months for Cert III courses and around 12 months for Cert IV courses. However times might vary depending on your personal circumstances.
The introduction courses are two weeks full time courses.
What is the Introduction course?
The introduction course is part of the relevant Cert III in Aged Care Work or Health Service Assistant respectively. These courses are designed to make you work ready in the shortest time period possible and to provide you with some practical work experience. These courses also provide you with a first assessment if you have made the right choice for you future career.
What do I need to complete to get my certificate?
All of our courses are delivered as a mixture of class-room based learning and on the job training. To obtain your certificate you are required to attend all class days, to complete assigned tasks for all units and complete a set number of hours in a clinical setting (on the job training). The hours required for the on the job training will be advised at the beginning of your training and vary depending on your course.
Is there Government funding and or concessions to assist me?
ETEA does receieve funding from various Government departments across all states of Australia. This can also include concessions for eligible concession card holders.

I have been working in the industry for quite some time without formal qualification. Do I still have to complete the full course?
Depending on your circumstances we can offer a process called RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning). If successful this process will reduce the number of units you need to complete to obtain your certificate. Please contact our office for further detail.
Does ETEA organize my clinical placement?
ETEA will assist you in finding suitable placements, however the ultimate responsibility to organize clinical placement remains with you. In the past this process has facilitated successful employment for a majority of our students.
Can I complete a course under an apprentice / traineeship and what are the requirements to do so?
Yes we have a number of positions available to complete a course under an apprentice / traineeship. In order to complete an apprentice / traineeship you are required to find a host employer who will employ you during the duration of the training for at least 15 hours per week.
